Permanent Exterior Lighting Installation in Guilderland

We mount LED lights in a slim track along your roofline and leave them up for good. You pick colors, scenes and timers from an app. No more hauling out strings every fall or replacing dead strands every couple of seasons.

Lights that stay up, so you stop hanging them

Permanent lighting is a thin track fastened along your roofline with LED lights set inside it. It stays up all year. In daylight it's hard to spot from the street. At night you control it from an app on your phone: warm white on a normal Tuesday, team colors on game day, red and green in December.

The real question is cost over time. Clip-on string lights are cheap at the store, but they come with ladder work every year, tangled strands, dead bulbs and a new set every few seasons. A permanent system costs more up front. You pay once for the install, and after that the upkeep is close to nothing. We lay that comparison out plainly before you decide, so the choice still makes sense years from now.

It's a good fit if you decorate for more than one holiday, want soft light around the house every night, or you're done climbing ladders in November. If you only put up lights for one week a year and don't mind doing it, we'll tell you that too.

What the install includes

  1. 01

    A measured roofline plan

We measure every run of fascia, every peak and gable, and mark where the lights start and stop. You see the layout before anything gets mounted.

  2. 02

Track that blends with your trim

The channel comes in colors chosen to match your trim. We fasten it to the fascia or just under the roof edge so it reads as part of the house during the day.

  3. 03

    Even light spacing

Lights sit in the track at even intervals so corners and peaks look clean, not bunched. Runs near the gutters are routed so they stay out of the way of water.

  4. 04

    Power supply and hidden wiring

We mount the power supply near an outdoor outlet and tuck the wire along the trim. If there's no outlet where it needs to go, we tell you before the job, not on install day.

  5. 05

    App and schedule setup

We pair the controller with your home network, save a handful of starter scenes and set the lights to come on each evening. Then you take the phone and try it yourself while we're still there, so changing things later is easy.

Signs it's time to go permanent

  • You dread putting lights up

Hours on a ladder, cold hands, and a second trip in January to take it all down. If that's your routine every year, the install pays you back in time first.

  • Your strings keep failing

Dead sections, cracked sockets, a new box every other season. Our cold, wet winters are hard on cheap strands, and the replacement cost adds up quietly.

  • You decorate for several holidays

Fourth of July, Halloween, the holidays, birthdays. With app-controlled lighting, switching themes takes a few taps instead of a weekend.

  • Clips are wearing on your roof edge

Plastic clips and staples pull at shingles and leave holes in trim over the years. A fastened track ends that wear.

  • Dark spots around the house

A dim driveway or front walk at night. A warm white setting on a timer adds light to the whole home exterior without extra fixtures.

How it goes, from call to first night

  1. 1

    Phone call and walk-around

It starts with a call. We ask about your house and what you want lit, then come out to measure the roofline and check where power can go. You get a written quote that lists footage, controllers and any extra work.

  2. 2

    Layout and date

We go over the plan with you, adjust any runs you want added or dropped, and pick an install date that works.

  3. 3

    Install day

All the work happens outside. We set ladders with care, mount the track, set the lights and run power to the supply. Many homes are done in a day; bigger or steeper roofs can take longer.

  4. 4

    Test, walkthrough and cleanup

We light every run, fix any dark spots and set up the app with you. Then we pick up packaging, cut wire and screws so the yard looks the way we found it.

What moves the price

Every quote is built from your house, not a flat package. The biggest piece is how many feet of roofline you want lit. We price it line by line so you can weigh it against what you spend on string lights each year, and against your own time.

Feet of roofline
More runs, more track and lights. Some people light the front only to start; others want every edge.
How high and steep the roof is
A low, one-level house lets us work from short ladders. Two or three stories, or steep gables over a garage, mean taller ladders, more setup and more hours on the job.
Zones and controllers
Lighting the front and back separately, or the garage on its own schedule, can mean extra controllers.
Where the power is
A handy outdoor outlet keeps things simple. A long run to reach power, or no outlet nearby, adds to the job, and we flag it in the quote.
Condition of the trim
The track needs solid fascia to hold. If wood is soft or rotted, we show you before install so it can be fixed first.

Questions about permanent lighting

Can you see the track during the day?

From the street, most people can't pick it out. The track is slim and matched to your trim color. Up close you'll see it, but it looks like part of the roof edge.

How does it hold up to snow and ice?

The lights are sealed LEDs made to stay outside year-round. We mount the track under the roof edge, out of the worst of the snow load. Heavy ice buildup stresses anything on a roof edge, so we place runs with that in mind.

Will the install damage my roof?

No clips go under your shingles. The track fastens to the fascia with screws, which is less wear over time than clips and staples pulled on and off every year.

Is it expensive to run?

LEDs draw very little power, and you control when they're on. Most people set a timer for evenings and leave it alone.

What happens if a light stops working?

Give us a call. A section can usually be swapped without taking down the whole run, and we'll tell you what's going on before we touch it.
