ServicesGutter Line Lighting
Gutter Line Lighting in Guilderland
Most permanent lighting runs right along the gutters. If the gutter line sags, overflows or pulls away from the fascia, the lights suffer too. We look at your gutters first, pick the right mount and set the track so it stays put year-round.

Why Your Gutters Matter to Your Lights
Your roofline is where permanent lighting lives, and on most homes that means the gutter edge or the fascia board behind it. A light track is only as steady as what it is screwed to. Mount it to a loose gutter and you will be fixing it in a year.
So we treat the gutter line as part of the job. We check hangers, pitch and fascia before we plan a single run. If something needs work first, we tell you plainly and you decide what to do. The goal is lights that cost you once and keep working, not lights you pay to rehang.

What We Check and What We Do
- 01
Gutter line walk-around
We walk the whole roofline and look at every run of gutter. We note sagging sections, loose hangers and spots where water has been spilling over the front.
- 02
Fascia condition
We look at the board behind the gutter for soft wood, peeling paint and gaps. Soft fascia will not hold screws for long, so it changes where and how we mount.
- 03
Mounting choice
Some homes do best with the track on the fascia, others under the gutter lip. We explain which one fits your house and why, including how each holds up through ice and wind.
- 04
Photos of what we find
If we see a problem, we take a picture and show you. You see the same thing we see.
- 05
Clean, tight installation
Track runs straight and level, wire is tucked out of sight and every connection is sealed. The lights are app-controlled, so you set colors and schedules from your phone.

Water spills over the front
Overflow in a heavy rain means a clog or a bad pitch. That water lands right where a light track would sit, and in winter it turns to ice.
Gutters dip between hangers
A wavy gutter line will make a wavy light line. It also tells us the hangers are tired and may not carry extra hardware.
Icicles and ice buildup
Long icicles along the eaves each winter point to water backing up. We plan the mount so ice and snow slide past the lights instead of prying at them.
Stains or rot on the fascia
Dark streaks or soft spots behind the gutter mean water has been getting in. Screws need solid wood, so we flag this before install day.
Gutters pulling away from the house
A gap between gutter and fascia means the fasteners are failing. Lights should not go on until that is fixed.
How a Job Goes
- 1
Phone call and free quote
You call, tell us about the house and we set a time to come look. The quote is free and you get it by phone after the walk-around.
- 2
Roofline inspection
We measure every run, check the gutters and fascia, and talk through the mount. If the gutters need clearing or rehanging first, we say so and explain why.
- 3
Install day
We set ladders with care around your beds and walkways. Track goes up, lights snap in, wiring runs to the power supply and we test every section.
- 4
App setup and walk-through
We get the app on your phone, set your first schedule and show you how to change colors. We pick up our scraps and screws before we leave.
What Drives Your Quote
The two big pieces are how much of the roofline gets lit and how tough it is to get up there. The shape your gutters and fascia are in counts as well, because a firm mount is what keeps the lights going. Your quote spells out each part, so you can set the price against the years you'll use it.
- Roofline length
- A longer stretch of gutter and fascia takes more track and more lights. Some homeowners start with the street-facing side and add the rest of the house another season.
- How high and how easy to reach
- Two stories or a sloped lot call for taller ladders and longer setup. Ground-level garages and porches go up quicker.
- What we mount to
- Sound, clean fascia is simplest. Bump-outs, odd angles and a mix of gutter styles mean more cuts and fitting.
- Gutter line repairs first
- Loose hangers or damaged fascia have to be dealt with before the install. We bring it up at the start so nothing catches you off guard.
Gutter Line Lighting Questions
Will the lights get in the way of my gutters draining?
No. We mount the track so it does not block the trough or the downspouts. Water still flows the way it did before. That is part of why we look at your gutters before we plan anything.
Do the lights go on the gutter or on the fascia?
It depends on your house. Fascia mounting is often stronger and keeps the lights clear of overflow. Under-lip mounting can hide the track better. We show you both on the walk-around and tell you which we think will last longer on your home.
What happens if my gutters need work first?
We tell you during the inspection and show you photos. Our work is the lighting itself, so you get the gutters sorted, then we schedule install. Putting lights on a failing gutter just means paying twice.
How do the lights handle winter here?
Snow, ice and freeze-thaw are the hard part of any Capital Region winter. The track and lights are built to stay outside year-round. We place them where sliding snow and ice will pass over, not hang on them.
Can someone still work on my gutters after the lights are up?
Yes. The track sits low and tight, so a gutter crew can still reach the trough. Just ask them to keep ladders off the light line. If a section ever needs to come down, give us a call and we will sort it out.
